Jackalope - LIVESTREAM OFFLINE

Sun Sep 9, 2012, 8:05 AM

Sad news - flaaffy is dead. My computer crashed and destroyed the file. All I have is a video recording from the stream... but that's better than nothing.
Not to feel bad about it I'm starting work on a new piece - a revision of an old drawing that just got a second chance.

What happened to your computer? Hard drive failure or something?

I don't know why but when my computer decides to hibernate, my graphic card drivers crash and photoshop alongside with it. It always ends up with the last opened PSD file completely destroyed. No recovery program managed to get anything out of them.

Yowch, that's pretty intense. Have you ran a virus scan?

Also what kinda card is it?

Yeah, I run scans on a regular basis. I think it might be connected with me trying to boost performance with custom preferences instead of using the standard ones. I'm working on NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M - nothing fancy because the only computer I have is a laptop ;)

That probably has a part in it :P
I had something similar with a AMD card a few years ago, so maybe you fried the ram on the card.

Bit of a silly question but have you tried re-installing the drivers?

I did. I downloaded the newest ones, then made a downgrade, then an update again. Nothing worked. I kind of gave up on it because I can't always recreate the crash which makes checking what's wrong really tedious work.

Ah. You could always try a total wipe, Use a program to wipe everything Nvidea related from your computer, then re-install it, but it's a hassle.

Umm one thing I did when I was having the problem is tell your computer to never hibernate, sleep, and tell the screen to never go off. It let me keep my card for about a month or 2 before the whole thing just gave up.

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help though.
